You need to be oblique when walking on eggshells
Sounds like the title of a Fall Out Boy/Panic! at the Disco/Brand New song, doesn’t it?
There are things to be said, but whereas normally the words lie down for me, I seem to be stumbling over myself. The urge to pass delicate thoughts through some sort of internal safety mechanism in preparation for mass consumption is powerful, but treating yourself as one who doesn’t speak your own language is difficult. You do, after all, speak your language, so you must take care to avoid tautology as it would be too revealing. But what if what you wish to express resists this shackled approach and refuses to submit to whatever mask you would use to hide it? Circumlocution can take you only so far, and to ride the fence between synonym and cipher requires quite the balancing act.
As it turns out, I’m not much of a gymnast.
