The land of the legal

So my twenty-first birthday has come and gone (although more celebratory activity is in the works for this evening), and it was a lot of fun. I had to work (both on the day of and the day after), but honestly I prefer mellow hangouts with good friends–which is what I ended up doing–to crazy and completely debaucherous nights. Beckett’s is a pretty chill pub, the live music was good, and I forced down my complementary birthday Jager shot (black licorice; blech!) with a smile on my face (with possible the slightest of grimaces).

Alcohol isn’t the real win with the big two-one, however, but the ability to hang out with your buddies when you might otherwise be left out due to an arbitrary measurement that does not necessarily have any bearing on your personal maturity whatsoever. One more roommate to go (we’re rooting for you Brian), and the whole gang will be able to join in the festivities.

But that’s not to say I don’t enjoy a nice pint of Guinness ;-)

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes. It’s the people that make such occasions memorable, and this was no exception. I feel blessed in the company I’m lucky enough to keep, and life wouldn’t be the same without you guys. Here’s to keeping life interesting!
